Wabi Sabi Workshop for K-12 Teachers Begins

The East Asian Studies Center has begun its NCTA Wabi-Sabi course for K-12 teachers. The asynchronous NCTA course will guide participants through an exploration of traditional Japanese art and architecture, shaped by the aesthetic principles of wabi and sabi.

Participants could sign up for any one of or all of the four offered sessions, each lasting two weeks, and covering topics such as the origins and originators of Wabi-Sabi in medieval poetics and Zen Buddhism, Wabi-Sabi objects and spaces, and cultural exports.

The short course began its first session, "Origins & Originators," on February 20th and will conclude on April 24 with its fourth and final session, "Cultural Exports."
