Title VI

EASC does not have Title VI funding during this grant cycle (2022-2025) but we are preparing to apply for it again when the next cycle (2026-29) arrives.

IN/IL Consortium History

In 2005 we formed a partnership with our counterpart at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies (CEAPS), to strengthen the impact of our respective East Asian studies programs in research, teaching, and outreach.

Cross-campus scholarly exchanges involved faculty actively participating in each other’s conferences, seminars, and dissertation workshops. As faculty and center staff shared resources, engaged in cross-campus teaching, and found new opportunities to interact with students and the community on both campuses, we further developed our commitments to robust undergraduate and graduate training, critical research, and outreach programs.

In 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2018, the two centers were awarded four-year Title VI grants, which established us as consortial partners in a Comprehensive National Resource Center, one of 20 such centers for East Asian languages and area studies in the United States, funded under the Title VI program of the U.S. Department of Education.
